Missing a Final Exam

Final exams are administered at the end of each semester during finals week, and take place at the times listed in the finals schedule. Every student must take all their final exams at the scheduled time unless excused by the Dean of Students Office or the Office of Graduate Education due to documented illness, other emergency, or NCAA athletic competition. Only the Dean of Students Office or the Office of Graduate Education may excuse a student from a final exam. For any student who has been excused from a final exam, the course grade will be recorded as “NE” (Not Examined) and the instructor will be notified. Grades of “NE” given in the fall semester must be made up within the first five business days of the spring semester. “NE” grades given in the spring semester or summer semester must be made up within the first five business days of the fall semester. The grade of “NE” is not considered in the calculation of the term GPA. Unless so excused, a student who is absent from final exams is given zero credit for the exam and may, at the discretion of the instructor, be given an “F” for the course.

Requests can be made, with documentation, through the online form.
