  • Academic and personal mentoring
  • Class-specific programs organized through Cohort Committees
  • Coordination with campus departments and offices
  • Managing administrative processes such as excused absences, no exam grade requests, course withdrawals, leaves of absence, and readmissions

Student Support Deans are here to ensure every student has the guidance and resources they need to thrive at RPI.

FAQ's

Student Support Deans are a friendly and accessible resource for support, referrals, and guidance. When you're unsure where to start, start with a Student Support Dean. We assist with academic and personal concerns, offering advice and connecting you with the right campus resources.

With strong relationships across RPI, we advocate on your behalf with faculty and campus offices to help you stay on track. If you're considering a leave of absence, we’ll help you plan your time away and your return.

In your first meeting, we’ll take time to get to know you and understand the reason for your visit. Together, we’ll explore solutions, and you’ll likely leave with a few action items. You're encouraged to ask any questions to help you feel comfortable.

We may also schedule follow-up meetings to continue addressing your concerns, connect you with resources, and develop a plan to help you move forward through the semester.

Student Support Deans are student experience administrators, not therapists. We provide support, guidance, advocacy, and referrals to help you navigate academic and personal challenges. If you're managing multiple concerns, including those that may involve counseling, we're here to work closely with you and connect you with the right resources.

If you're struggling, don’t give up or stop attending class. There are always options, and the earlier we talk, the more we can do to help. Don’t let fear delay action; schedule your appointment today.

Each semester, over 3,000 Electronic Warning System (EWS) reports are submitted. If you're flagged for concerns in one or more courses, a Student Support Dean will contact you. Even if you feel things are under control, it’s worth connecting to discuss a path for success.

We’ve helped thousands of students in similar situations. By responding, you can access resources, support, and a plan to get back on track.
