Community Service Day
Community Service
For the past 10 years, Rensselaer has hosted Community Service Days. Each fall, Rensselaer student, staff and faculty volunteers have provided essential help in the City of Troy, raking fall leaves, trailblazing, and planting bulbs in area parks, in preparation for the upcoming seasons. Our work is valued not only by the caretakers of the parks we service, but also by members of the community who are able to take full advantage of what these areas have to offer year-round.
The 11th annual event will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009. We will be volunteering in Frear Park, Prospect Park, and Oakwood Cemetery. Free transportation will be provided by CDTA to and from the Union Horseshoe, and each volunteer will receive bottled water and a snack. The work sites will have gloves for volunteers, but please feel free to bring your own if you have them.
The various times to volunteer are listed below. Note that
if you'd like to stay at one of the sites all day, you should
note that on the registration form.
