Clery Act

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is the federal law, originally known as the Campus Security Act, that requires colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses.

Information through 2011 for the Rensselaer campus and surrounding neighborhood, can be found at Rensselaer crime statistics. In accordance with Federal and State law, this information is reported to the United States Department of Education and can be found at the Office of Post Secondary Education Web site. The non-emergency phone number for the Department of Public Safety, the designated college campus contact authorized to provide such statistics for the Institute, is 276-6656. In addition, information about sex offenders -- if any -- living or working at Rensselaer, is available at the Department of Public Safety. For more information, go to New York's Sex Offender Registry.
